Careers Come Alive in the JoMo Experience

We’ve redesigned and relaunched our Jobs Mobile into what we now call the JoMo Career Exploration Experience, a mobile, career-exploration event housed in a 40-foot RV.

Capturing the attention of young people—who are deeply immersed in their digital worlds—is no small task. It’s easy to assume that if something isn’t on Instagram or TikTok,[LM1]  it doesn’t exist for them. After conducting several focus groups, however, we found that while this stereotype holds some truth, today’s youth are far more aware and connected to the world around them than many assume.

Traditional media like radio, TV, and outdoor advertising still play a valuable role when integrated with social media and streaming campaigns. Exposure across multiple platforms strengthens a message, reinforcing calls to action and making campaigns more effective. But the most powerful approach? A hands-on, immersive experience.

With that in mind, we set out to reimage what could be done with a large old RV outfitted with a dozen computer workstations.

Inside the RV visitors are now welcomed by a vibrant environment featuring colorful lights, fog effects, music, and interactive technology. The experience begins with a motivational message:
“You matter. You have unique skills, and we’re here to help you discover a fulfilling and successful career path.”

From there, visitors sit at one of a dozen computer workstations to complete Traitify, a fast, visual personality assessment. In just a few minutes, users swipe through a series of images, choosing “Me” or “Not Me” to receive personalized career suggestions based on their traits and interests. Results can be saved and used later in one-on-one sessions with career specialists.

Next, participants explore videos and bite-sized info about high-demand careers, either those aligned with their assessment results or others they’re curious about. They can also begin an application for services provided by the Job Center, including workshops on interview skills, resume building, and potential training opportunities.

The final stop—and often the most popular—is an interactive virtual reality experience. In a video game-style challenge, users explore simulated work environments across industries like construction, healthcare, and more, offering a fun and realistic glimpse into various job settings.

The JoMo Career Exploration Experience brings careers to life in an exciting, personalized, and impactful way—bridging the gap between curiosity and real-world opportunity.  Look for the JoMo at upcoming community events, in your neighborhood library, or school!
